Applied Health Administration Program
The Applied Health Administration program is tailored to meet the needs of nurses who have trained and graduated in India and would like to enhance their skills to manage a medical office. The focus of the program is on the development of strong medical office skills and the enhancement of interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
Admission Process and Requirements
Applicants must apply through one of the following Colleges of Nursing, in India:
- Kular College of Nursing, Ludhiana
- Silver Oaks College of Nursing, Mohali, Punjab
- Sri Guru Harkrisan Sahib College of Nursing, Mohali, Punjab
All instruction will be in English. In order to be successful in the program speaking, listening, and comprehension, along with reading and writing skills, must be at a level sufficient to meet the demands of post-secondary studies. All international applicants are required to submit an English proficiency score with the following minimum IELTS scores with their application:
- IELTS 6.0 overall with a minimum score of 5.5 in each section is accepted 6.5 is recommended
Curriculum Information
The program is delivered over five semesters with starts in May, September and January. Semester one courses will be completed through online studies. The following four semesters will be completed in a classroom setting in Canada at Loyalist College. During semester five students will complete a 120 hour medical office placement in Belleville, Bancroft or Toronto plus a clinical seminar – to gain the skills for the standard operational procedures required to manage a medical office.

Upon Successful Completion
Upon successful completion of this program, graduates will also be issued the following Loyalist College certificates:
Health Services Receptionist Certificate
Upon completion of the first semester, students will receive a Health Services Receptionist certificate that prepares graduates to work as the first point of contact in a number of health services settings – including dental, optical, physician, and chiropractic environments.
Health Records Certificate
Students will have the theoretical knowledge and skills required to obtain employment and function effectively as an entry-level health records clerk in various medical settings.
Hospital Ward Certificate
Students will have the theoretical training necessary to obtain employment as a hospital ward clerk/secretary, in a hospital or medical office setting.
Office Administration – Medical Diploma
Students will gain the specialized skills required for a career in a medical office or clinic.
