Acceptance to Residence

The Residence Staff believes that residence life has much to offer every student, but we also recognize the fact that this type of accommodation does not suit everyone. Residence is shared accommodations which requires co-operation and some compromise. If you are committed to treating yourself, others, and our facilities with respect, we welcome your application.

Residence Fees:

$5290.00  (two semesters)

Applications to Residence will be processed on a first come/first served basis using the following criteria:

• 35 spaces will be allocated to first year students living within close proximity to Belleville. This area includes the boundaries of Havelock, Madoc and Tweed to the North; all of Prince Edward County to the South; Napanee, Deseronto and Tamworth to the East; and Campbellford and Brighton to the West; and all communities in between. All applications received from postal codes within and including these boundaries will be considered for these 35 spaces. Please be aware that it is the assessment of the Residence if your application falls within these boundaries.
• 31 spaces allocated to international students, scholarship students, and students with special needs.
• 90 spaces are allocated to Residence Staff and upper year students.
• 320 spaces will be allocated on a first come, first served basis to all other first year applicants.

All applicants received before April 30th with the non-refundable application fee of $20.00 will be processed in this manner. If spaces are available after this date, they will be filled on a first come/first serve basis from all applications received. All applicants will be notified of their residence status by mail, within two weeks of receipt of their application (but not before April 30). Packages will be mailed to the address provided on the applicants Residence Application Form. The successful applicants will have 3 weeks from the postmarked date on their Residence Acceptance Package to accept the offer and return all pertinent information, including the $500.00 caution and key deposit.

Every student must pay this deposit in full, even if you have applied to OSAP or are being sponsored by an agency.

If you do not meet this deadline, you will lose your place in Residence. Those students who are not selected will receive a letter indicating their waiting list status. Vacancies will be filled from the waitlist by phone, as rooms become available. Please be advised, it is difficult to gauge how many people on the waitlist will eventually be offered a room. Applications can be returned in person, by mail, or by courier. The mailing address is:

Incomplete application forms or those not accompanied with the $20.00 application fee will not be processed.

Withdrawals

Any student withdrawing from Residence before one week prior to the Residence move-in date will be charged a $150.00 administration fee.

Any student withdrawing from Residence within one week of the move-in date prior at anytime during the academic year will be charged a $500 withdrawal fee.

All withdrawals must be submitted in writing to the attentions of the Residence Manager.

Residence Financial Commitment

There is a non-refundable $20.00 application fee. This $20.00 cheque or money order must be made payable to Loyalist College Residence.

Three weeks after postmarked date on the Residence Acceptance Package:

• $500.00 Caution/Key deposit due.
• Residence Contract due
• Room Assignment Questionnaire due
