for children and adults with mental health issues
Workshop Presenter:
Cynthia White, MSc OT, OT Reg.(Ont)
Occupational Therapist
Mental health issues can include anxiety or depression. These issues may occur separately or may be related to difficulties doing school work tasks due to learning disabilities, ADHD, or autism spectrum disorder.
One in five students in Ontario has a mental health issue that can have significant impact on their engagement in school and the educational process. There are potentially lifelong negative consequences for those who continue to experience failure in this early occupational domain. The objective of this presentation is to provide a context for understanding mental health issues as they relate to one’s ability to “do” school work tasks. The use of assistive technology to support these students will also be introduced.
