Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) is a powerful tool with multiple uses. For over a quarter of a century, this Conference has been educating and helping people begin their journey towards using their knowledge and skills to reach their goals.

PLAR unlocks untapped opportunities by providing a way to identify, document, assess and recognize what a person knows, what they can do, and what they have learned from both formal and informal learning. Recognizing that this achieved learning can and should be built upon rather than re-taught, we are opening the floor to PLAR practitioners and advocates to speak on a variety of PLAR applications.

If you have experience in the field of PLAR, we want to hear from you!

We welcome any and all ideas and are looking for presentations that address the following topics:

  • PLAR for career development/job seekers
  • PLAR as a tool for human resources management
  • PLAR for training and education
  • PLAR and First Nations
  • PLAR and youth
  • PLAR and newcomers
  • PLAR transparency with the process; quality assurance and PLAR
  • PLAR assessment 101 for Academic Professionals
  • PLAR success stories
  • PLAR practitioner; advisor and assessor training

All submissions should be sent to Liz Nicholas at Elizabeth.N@trentonmfrc.ca by March 3rd, 2017
