Become a Student for a Day at Loyalist College

June 27, 2014

September is fast approaching. Have you considered applying for a post-secondary program beginning in the fall?  Unsure of what you would like to study? Not quite ready to start school in September? Loyalist College can help you find the answers. It’s never too late to get a head start on your education. If beginning your studies in September isn’t an option for you, Loyalist offers a variety of programs that begin in January.

“I was out of high school for four years when I decided to go to college, but I was unsure of where to go and what to take,” explains Mariah Brough, a Loyalist College Business graduate who started the program in January. “I came for a tour at Loyalist and they made my decision so easy. It was late in August when I decided to apply, and I wasn’t ready to take a program in September. I was concerned I would have to wait a full year to start. Luckily for me, Loyalist has a great selection of programs that begin in January as well.”

If you would like a sneak peek of the programs Loyalist has to offer, why not become a student for a day? Loyalist offers the opportunity to visit and tour the campus, and to experience the program you’re interested in first-hand. Several programs are still in session. Spend a day with the Accounting students and learn what it takes to become a financial analyst, accountant or even a financial planner. Enjoy a relaxing afternoon at The Spa at Loyalist while Esthetics and Spa Management students perfect their manicure techniques. Sit in on a Business Administration lecture and find out about a variety of topics such as marketing, finance, social media and human resources management. Learn about law enforcement, security and crime prevention in a Justice Studies program. Interested in the skilled trades, but not sure which one you’d like to pursue? Spend a day in College Technology and Trade Preparation, a new program that gives students a chance to explore a range of skills such as welding, automotive, mechanical, electrical and construction renovation.

“I was sold on the Television and New Media Production (TVNM) program after sitting in on the first class,” says Richie Perry, who is starting the program this fall. “I loved getting to see inside the studio and editing suites, and seeing the students run through news broadcasts. I wish I could have stayed longer. I got a small dose of what I would be learning, and it made me really excited.”

Loyalist offers many more January start programs including Art and Design Foundation, Business Sales and Marketing, Developmental Services Worker, Personal Support Worker, Human Resources Management, Media Experience, General Arts and Science, Photojournalism, Community and Justice Services, Customs Border Services, Police Foundations, and Protection, Security and Investigation.
