GET OUTSIDE THE LINES WITH LOYALIST COLLEGE’S PARROTT CENTRE

September 17, 2015

Belleville, Ontario, September 17, 2015— The Parrott Centre invites the community to get re-acquainted with the library, by joining us for Outside the Lines, a global initiative designed to reintroduce libraries to their local communities.

“Libraries are at the forefront of technological advances,” said Ross Danaher, Director, Library and Research Services, Loyalist College. “We’re innovative and creative in ways that people don’t expect. Today’s libraries offer more than just books. They assist with career searches, technical skills classes and ESL training. Depending on what a particular library offers, patrons can borrow just about anything, from seeds to bicycles to museum passes.”

From September 13 to 19, 263 organizations from across the world will host an event or campaign designed to get people thinking – and talking – about libraries in new ways. Each library develops their own innovative campaign to suit their community. Information on Outside the Lines can be found on their website; getoutsidethelines.org.

During this week, the Parrott Centre encourages the Loyalist College community to connect with the library and with each other. Using Twitter and Instagram, visitors can share photos of what they’re reading and where, highlighted with the hash tag #LoyalistReads. All participants will be entered into a prize draw for a chance to win. Staff will be available around the campus and in the library to speak with students, staff and faculty, answer questions, and highlight library services and facilities.
