LOYALIST COLLEGE BOARD ELECTS OFFICERS FOR 2017-18

Belleville, Ontario, June 16, 2017 – At the June 15th meeting of the Loyalist College Board of Governors, Bob Forder was elected Chair for 2017-18, for the term beginning September 1, 2017. Sandra Maracle and David Hatch will continue as Vice-Chairs for the coming year, and June Hagerman will serve as Past Chair of the Board. Committees will be chaired by Governors Aleesha Camp and Tim Farrell.

Bob Forder was appointed to the Board of Governors in 2015 and has served on the Academic, Student Affairs and Advocacy Committee for the 2015-16 and 2016-17 terms. Mr. Forder joined the City of Quinte West in 2013 as Manager of Buildings and Facilities. Prior to his employment with the City of Quinte West, Bob was the Lean Coordinator at Kennametal Stellite (formerly Deloro Stellite Inc.) for over six years with a previous 21 plus years with Linamar Corp. He has held many positions in manufacturing and supports the community through volunteering. He is Past Chair and current Steering Committee member of the Quinte Manufacturers Association, Past Director of the Belleville Chamber of Commerce representing Industry, and is a member of the Manufacturing Engineering Technician, Mechanical Techniques, and the Welding Techniques Advisory Committees at Loyalist College. Bob graduated with Honours from Loyalist in 1988 with a Data Processing Diploma (IT Designation).

Sandra Maracle was appointed to the Board in 2013 and has served as a member of the Academic, Student Affairs and Advocacy Committee since that time. Ms. Maracle has 26 years of experience in education having served the roles of Post-Secondary Education Assistant and Post-Secondary Education Program Manager with the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte. Ms. Maracle works directly with students providing career and personal counselling, ensuring student success in their chosen field of study. She assists in the development and delivery of specialized Indigenous programming; and manages the Post-Secondary Education Program budget. She is responsible for liaising with funding and support service agencies and with various colleges and universities, and represents the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte on educational advisory committees. Ms. Maracle is a graduate of the Social Services Worker program at Loyalist College.  

David Hatch has served as a member of the Finance, Corporate Services and Governance Committee since his appointment to the Board in January 2014. He is Executive Producer at WhistleStop Productions Inc., a full service broadcast TV production company in Prince Edward County. Mr. Hatch has more than 30 years of experience in the Canadian broadcasting industry, beginning in 1981 in Toronto as an audio engineer for CFMT Channel 47. In 1984, he helped TSN’s operations department launch TSN – The Sports Network. He also spent four years in Toronto as a producer and daily news reporter with Global Television Network before becoming an independent producer working primarily in sports, lifestyle and documentary with the creation of WhistleStop Productions Inc. He has taught in the Broadcasting programs at Loyalist College and Algonquin College, and has served on the Advisory Committee for the Broadcast Engineering Technology program. Mr. Hatch is a graduate of the Radio and Television Arts program at Seneca College.

Chairs of the Standing Committees of the Board were also elected for the coming year. Aleesha Camp will serve as Chair of the Academic, Student Affairs and Advocacy Committee, and Tim Farrell will continue as Chair of the Finance, Corporate Services and Governance Committee. Past Board Chair Brian Smith and Governor Natalie Bohnen-Twiddy, past Chair of the Academic, Student Affairs and Advocacy Committee, were thanked for their outstanding contributions to the College during their tenure as Governors.
