LOYALIST COLLEGE CONGRATULATES 2017 NURSING SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT

December 14, 2017

Belleville, Ontario, December 14, 2017 – The recipient of the 2017 Brock University-Loyalist College Collaborative Baccalaureate Nursing Scholarship is Kadra Pond. The $5,000 scholarship is awarded annually to a student in the Nursing Collaborative Degree with Brock University program who has demonstrated a high level of academic achievement in the first two years at Loyalist.

“It’s such an honour to receive this scholarship,” said Kadra. “It’s definitely going to help me as I complete my academic journey. Loyalist provided a great building block of education to move forward with and I’m excited to start at Brock. When I graduate I hope to specialize in geriatric or perioperative nursing.”

Students in the Nursing Collaborative Degree with Brock University program spend the first two years at Loyalist and the final two years at Brock, to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing awarded by Brock University.

Kadra Pond, who is from Stirling-Rawdon, Ontario, submitted an essay which captured the core values espoused by the program.

“It was a true pleasure to read Kadra’s essay,” said Loyalist College President & CEO Ann Marie Vaughan. “She spoke about integrity, social justice issues, the higher value of the profession of nursing and the wider calling of what it means to be a nurse. We wish Kadra all the very best at Brock and we only expect more wonderful things to happen for her.”
