Loyalist College Recognizes Esthetics And Spa Management Students of the Year

April 23, 2014

Belleville, Ontario, April 23, 2014 – Loyalist College is pleased to announce that Esthetics and Spa Management students Kayla Lahey and Christena Hiderman have been named the International Dermal Institute Students of the Year. The annual award was presented at the program’s graduation dinner in March.

“Being named Student of the Year is an incredible feeling,” said Kayla. “It’s very rewarding to be recognized for your efforts and accomplishments.”

For Kayla, the program has led to employment before graduation. “I’ve been working part-time at The Spah in The Salon, Belleville, since I completed my placement there in March. It has been an amazing experience, and I’m excited to become a more permanent member of their team when I graduate this spring. I have wonderful mentors at The Salon who have worked with me to integrate the skills and knowledge I learned in the program into a professional spa environment. Taking the Esthetics and Spa Management program at Loyalist is the best decision I have ever made.”

Both students received prize packages from the International Dermal Institute, including a certificate of achievement, a letter of congratulations, a voucher for $150 worth of Dermalogica product, and a Student of the Year card which enables each student to take International Dermal Institute classes for one year (a value of $2,500).

“I feel very honoured to have received this award, and to know that all of my hard work paid off,” says Christena, who has also secured employment upon graduation. “I’ll be working full-time in the spa at Studio 237. I’ll be doing manicures, pedicures, waxing, facials, massage, makeup applications and more.”

Other graduating students from the program each received a graduation package from the Institute including a letter of congratulations, a $100 gift certificate for the International Dermal Institute and a Dermalogica product sample pack.
