LOYALIST COLLEGE SIGNS PATHWAY AGREEMENT WITH YORK UNIVERSITY

September 18, 2017

Belleville, Ontario, September 18, 2017 – Loyalist College has signed a pathway agreement with York University which will provide eligible Animation, Journalism & Communications and Film & TV Production diploma graduates the opportunity to enter York’s Consecutive Bachelor of Education (BEd) in Technological Education program.

“This pathway enhances educational opportunities for Loyalist graduates and opens doors in a dynamic field of study they may not have otherwise considered,” said Ann Drennan, Senior Vice-President Academic and Chief Learning Officer at Loyalist.

York’s program complies with the Ontario College of Teachers’ requirements to be eligible for an Ontario Teaching Certificate as a teacher of Technological Education in an Ontario secondary school. This full-time, professional degree program is offered at York’s Keele campus. It includes coursework, school and community practicum placements in the Toronto area, and the opportunity to be involved in student life and international learning. It also provides the opportunity to earn advanced standing credits towards a Master of Education (MEd) degree at York.

“York University is very pleased to be able to increase access to the teaching profession for Loyalist graduates who have expertise in the broad-based technologies aligned with Ontario’s curriculum,” said Chloë Brushwood Rose, Associate Dean, Academic Programs in the Faculty of Education.

The program requires 60 credits offered in two consecutive Fall/Winter sessions in addition to meeting Loyalist’s program requirements. Students who successfully complete the York program will receive a BEd in Technological Education degree granted by the Senate of York University.
