Loyalist College Staff Member Recognized with Provincial Award

Rick Helman, Director of Financial Planning & Budgets at Loyalist College, was presented with a Volunteer Recognition Award at the Ontario College Administrative Staff Association (OCASA) Professional Development Conference on June 23rd

Rick was honoured for his long history of volunteer activity both provincially and locally. On the provincial level, he served two terms as OCASA President, and six terms as Treasurer. He has served as OCASA representative on the Insured Benefits Committee; the Sun Life Demutualization Committee, and numerous other committees. He served as OCASA representative on the CAAT Pension Plan Sponsors’ Committee from 2006 to 2011.

At Loyalist, he has coached the College cross-country team, and is currently on the board of the Community and Advocacy Legal Clinic (CALC).  He has also served as a board member on both the Hastings & Prince Edward County Children’s Aid Society and Quinte United Immigrant Services. He is or has also been on the boards, often serving as Treasurer, for the Quinte Tennis Club, Quinte Curling Club, and Canadian Race Communications Association (CRCA).

Loyalist President Maureen Piercy congratulated Rick Helman on this provincial award.  “This recognition of Rick is well deserved,” she said.  “His involvement as a volunteer with OCASA, in the College, and community at large, is outstanding, and is an example of the strength of our College family.”
