Loyalist College has opened employer registration for its Annual Career Fair, scheduled for Wednesday, February 3 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Kente Building of the College’s Main Campus. Regional and national employers from business and industry sectors, related to program training at Loyalist, are encouraged to register to attend.
The event is organized by the College’s Career Centre to support students and alumni in their career exploration, planning and development.
“Our annual Career Fair provides powerful networking opportunities both for employers and prospective employees,” said Loyalist College President & CEO Maureen Piercy. “Many employers return each year to talk with students and graduates about potential full-time and part-time, as well as summer and temporary, positions. Their ongoing involvement highlights the success of the event, and the feedback we receive about the Career Fair is very helpful in planning activities through Career and Employment Services to benefit our students.”
“Our goal is to provide students and graduates with access to employers who are hiring in their field,” said Lyndsay Kerik, Senior Alumni and Career Services Officer. “We encourage employers who are seeking qualified applicants to attend the Fair to meet our students and graduates, and to talk with them about current and future career opportunities.”
The Loyalist College Career Centre offers everything from computers and Internet access for conducting job searches to assistance with résumé and cover letter creation. Career advisors work one-on-one with alumni and current students to help them prepare for part-time employment or a career. They also work within the classroom, helping students to complete a Career Development Certificate, which consists of four modules. One of the most popular programs provided through the Centre helps to hone an individual’s interview skills through mock interviews, customized for the individual’s program of study. Other services include the myCareer Portal, an online job posting service.
