LOYALIST COLLEGE WEBSITE WINS GOLD NATIONAL PRIX D’EXCELLENCE AWARD

June 15, 2015

Belleville, Ontario, June 15, 2015 – Loyalist College website loyalistcollege.com has received a gold medal from the Canadian Council for the Advancement of Education (CCAE) at the organization’s annual conference on June 12 in Montreal. The Prix d’Excellence is the annual awards program of the CCAE, recognizing outstanding achievements in alumni affairs, public affairs, communications, marketing, development and advancement services. Award submissions are received from CCAE members across Canada, including colleges, universities and independent schools.

The Loyalist website, which launched in June 2014, takes an experience-first, recruitment-oriented approach that has reinvented how Loyalist presents itself to prospective students and their influencers. Designed to excite and inform visitors about Loyalist post-secondary education offerings, the website leverages several themes, based on extensive feedback from future and current students about what they want in a College website. The AODA-compliant website also connects current students with easy access to academics, athletics, awards, campus life, and student success services. Developed by ResIM to optimize mobile experiences, the website uses a completely responsive design, providing easy access to program information, search functionality and contact information. All new multimedia content was produced by the College.

The judges commented that, “The Loyalist website shows good design, including mobile and social media integration, and clear marketing for Loyalist to achieve goals. It demonstrates a strong user-centric approach. Well done.”

Director of Marketing and Communications, Kerry Lorimer, and Director of IT Services, Mark Kirkpatrick and their teams were recognized for this achievement at the national level.

“This Prix d’Excellence Award is a real testament to the outstanding work completed by the Loyalist team,” said Dianne Spencer, Executive Director of College Advancement & External Relations. “As the foundation of our marketing platform, our website helps to raise the bar in responsive design and redefine the way post-secondary institutions reproduce in-person experiences online. A focus on student and graduate voices telling their own stories through shared social media, videos, photos and testimonials keeps our audiences at the centre of the site’s visual architecture. This recognition is significant in setting the Loyalist website apart from the many excellent sites developed by post-secondary schools across Canada.”

Other medals in the Website category were presented to Université Laval (Silver) and Concordia University (Bronze). More details are available at CCAE.
