Hastings and Prince Edward Counties, Ontario, Canada/March 25, 2015 – The new Hastings and Prince Edward Counties Health Unit building at 179 North Park Street in Belleville is now open for business, effective at 8:30 a.m. today.
“We are pleased to have successfully relocated into our new Belleville home,” said Dr. Richard Schabas, Medical Officer of Health. “This facility is bright, attractive, and functional, with improved clinic and meeting space, energy efficient building systems, and sufficient capacity to house our entire Belleville employee group, including Environmental Health, which was formerly housed in rented facilities on Millennium Parkway.”
Dr. Schabas gave credit to the Board of Health for its dedication to this project, saying, “Current and past Board of Health members have been discussing and planning for an improved facility for many years. Since the project budget was approved in March, 2013, Board members have been instrumental in providing oversight and fiscal management to ensure the project was completed as planned.”
A virtual tour video will be available on the Health Unit website in coming weeks, and an Official Opening with public open house is being planned for September, 2015.
