Financial assistance

College can be a wonderful investment that pays large dividends in your working and personal life. However, it requires a significant investment. There are a number of options available to help you get started in your new career path. Explore your options through Community Employment Services and our information on Paying for College. Please keep in mind that dates and fees will be different for the Bancroft Campus; please see specific programs for details.

Refunds

You may transfer, up to the beginning of the second class, with permission of the instructor, if there is room. If you wish to withdraw, refunds are given if the request is made prior to the start of the second scheduled class.

  • Refunds will be made by cheque
  • Refunds will take approximately four to six weeks to process
  • A $20 administration fee is deducted from all refunds (up to a max of $100 for part-time post-secondary programs at Bancroft Campus)

Refunds requested for workshops and short courses (five sessions or less) must be made five working days before the start date of the course or workshop.

Web registrants will also need to contact the Registrar’s Office to withdraw from their course(s).

Full-time Program Withdrawals

PROGRAM WITHDRAWAL DATES AND WITHDRAWAL PROCESS: Students are responsible to complete an Official Withdraw Form. A student must officially withdraw from a Loyalist College program within the first ten days of a semester to qualify for a refund of tuition fees paid (minus a $100 administrative fee and a $50 deferral fee). Further charges for consumable and ancillary fees may be nonrefundable. Students who do not officially withdraw are considered to be registered and will receive failing grades on their transcript.  Withdrawing from courses can result in a change of status from fulltime to part-time time. This may affect financial assistance. Students are asked to consider this carefully before making a decision to withdraw from courses. If in doubt of the impact on financial status, please seek clarification from your Student Success Mentor or your Admissions Registration Representative.

Refunds will be made by cheque and will take approximately four to six weeks to process.

Mature applicants

Applicants who are 19 years of age on the first day of classes in the year of admission, and who do not have OSSD, are considered as mature applicants. Such applicants must complete the required subjects for admission. If they lack the required subjects, they may be requested to write a diagnostic test. Mature applicants are treated on an individual basis and should consult the Admissions Office as early as possible to determine if pre-entry testing and/or college preparatory studies are required.

Applicants who are not Canadian citizens or who do not have permanent residence status are not considered under this clause.
