Ontario Self Employment Benefit
The Ontario Self-Employment Benefit program provides support to approved participants to help them develop and implement a business plan and become successfully self-employed. The program provides financial assistance, entrepreneurial support and business advice.
Who can apply?
- Participants must meet one of these Employment Insurance guidelines: a) currently in receipt of Employment Insurance benefits; b) have had an Employment Insurance claim that ended in the past 36 months; or c) have had an Employment Insurance Maternity or Parental claim that began within the past 60 months, and you are now re-entering the work force after having left it to care for a newborn or adopted child
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Be able to participate in an entrepreneurial training program prior to starting the business
- Other criteria may apply
