
Loyalist College Community Employment Services is pleased to be a Second Career assessment centre. We assist laid off workers who are interested in re-training opportunities to complete their application and develop an Employment Service Plan that supports their career goals.
The Second Career Program was introduced by the Ontario government in 2008 and offers laid-off workers the opportunity to retrain for high demand occupations in the local labour market. Training can be short-term or long-term, based on your employment goals. Recently laid-off workers can be active EI claimants, EI Reach-back or non-EI eligible. The Second Career program has proven to be very successful in providing an opportunity for displaced workers to pursue training for a new career.
Since its inception, the policies governing the Second Career program have changed. If you have lost your job because of permanent lay-offs, plant closings, or downsizing, you should inquire about the Second Career program.
