FIND A JOB
The Information and Referral Service (IRS) is a free service through the Job Connect Community Resource Centre. Individuals can take advantage of free access to:
- job search support
- labour market information
- photocopiers
- fax machines
- the Internet
- job boards
- post-secondary education information
- apprenticeship information
- friendly, helpful assistance from IRS staff
GET A JOB
Workshops and one-on-one assistance are available through the IRS, including:
- one-on-one support and vocational counselling
- assistance defining individual skills, interests and aptitudes
- identifying education and training to help clients get the job they want, and keep the job they get
- workshops in employment search techniques such as résumé writing, cover letter preparation and interview skills
DEFINE YOUR SEARCH
Employment Planning and Preparation (EPP) is another free service to assist eligible clients with:
- defining their employment needs
- finding information on career certification
- establishing goals
- information on potential jobs in the community
The EPP service is available to individuals who are:
- Ontario residents between the ages of 16 and 24
- out of full-time school
- out of full-time work
- not eligible for Employment Insurance Benefits
ACCESS EMPLOYMENT SUPPORT
- Job Connect’s Job Development Placement Services (JDPS) will match eligible candidates with employers
- employers may receive financial support for providing training and/or placement opportunities for clients
