Buy flip-flops for the shower.
You don't mind sharing your roommate's toothpaste, but take a pass on sharing the fungus.
Take a tour.
Get familiar with your campus and services. That way, when you or a friend need help, you'll know where to find it.
Don't be the "pink kid."
Learn to separate your laundry.
Budget your money.
Some students start the semester with a huge bank balance, and come November they are wondering, "Where has it all gone?" Take advantage of FREE financial counselling seminars and avoid this fate.
Remember you are not alone.
You won't recognize most of the faces in the hallways at first. But neither will anyone else.
Have fun and get involved.
College can be the most exciting and rewarding time of your life. Join a club, run for student government, sign up for ski trips, join the volleyball team.
Be realistic.
Set achievable goals – academically, socially and financially.
Set your alarm ahead 10 minutes.
When you hit the snooze button in the morning, you'll be too tired to calculate the actual time.
Buy a phone card.
It's cheaper than calling collect.

Call your parents.
