Classroom to Workplace an Easy Step for

College Graduates

Employers need workers with specialized knowledge who think broadly and apply their knowledge to new settings, and this is where college graduates shine. Their transition from classroom to workplace is smooth as they graduate with hands-on training, work placement experiences, and industry connections.

Jason Glenn graduated from Loyalist College's Manufacturing Engineering Technician program in 2008 and now works as an Engineer Technician at Kennametal Stellite in Belleville.

"The skills I learned at Loyalist made me self-assured and confident when I entered the workforce - eager and ready," said Jason. "The longer I work, the greater my appreciation is for the faculty I was fortunate to have. Their industry knowledge and continued support, even since graduation, have been invaluable." TELEVISION AND NEW MEDIA GRAD GOES TO HOLLYWOOD

Twenty-eight year old Jesse Korosi, a 2005 Loyalist College Television and New Media Production graduate, has garnered attention for his achievements as the Dailies Producer on the 3D summer hit movie Pacific Rim, which generated $38.3 Million on opening weekend, July 12th to 14th. As Dailies Producer, Jesse was responsible for the raw, unedited footage shot daily during the making of the motion picture. Click on the Kingston Whig or Loyalist to read more.

NURSING GRAD IS NEW OPERATION WING SURGEON AT BASE

SALES AND MARKETING IS EVERYONE'S BUSINESS

Elisha Purchase, a 2007 Business Sales and Marketing grad, is the Manager of Economic Development and Communications for the Municipality of Brighton. She is responsible for the promotion, growth, and development of the municipality's economic base, including retaining and expanding existing business, securing new economic opportunities, and supporting external communications. GRAD RECOUNTS HER TIME WITH ENACTUS

Kim Harrison, a 2012 Loyalist Business Administration and Business Accounting graduate, was involved with Enactus Loyalist from the start of the organization in September 2009. For 2011 Business and Business Accounting grad Roman Pierce, Loyalist was a stepping stone from university to business ownership. Jim Whiteway has been appointed as the Dean of Business Management, Continuing Education, Corporate Training, Employment Ontario and the Bancroft Campus. NAUTEL PARTNERS WITH BROADCAST ENGINEERING PROGRAM

Nautel recently partnered with Loyalist, donating VS Series FM transmitters for use in the Broadcast Engineering Technology (BRET) program. The transmitters will be utilized in the lab of the second-year broadcast test and measurement course, giving students an opportunity to work with the latest in broadcast transmitter technology. SUCCESSFUL SKILLS WORK CAMP

The College hosted 16 grade seven and eight students for the "Skills Work!®" summer day camp during the week of July 8^th. Presented in partnership with Skills Canada for the second year, the camp provides participants with an opportunity to explore careers in skilled trades and technologies. COLLEGE DONATES POTTERY EQUIPMENT

On July 3, College Vice-President Academic John McMahon presented Core Arts and Culture Centre Executive Director Cheryl Whiteman with an in-kind donation of pottery equipment and inventory, allowing the organization to continue a long tradition of pottery programming in the Quinte region.
