Business Admin Student "Tweeted" her way to World Floorball Championship in Poland

   Clara Quinn; Business Administration, 2014

What started as a class group project evolved into an amazing experiential learning opportunity for Clara Quinn, a second-year Business Administration student at Loyalist. Clara packed her suitcase and flew to Europe on April 24th with the U19 Canadian Women's Floorball Team. As Social Media Coordinator, Clara covered the team's progress at the Women's World Floorball Championship (WFC) in Poland from April 30 to May 4.

This exciting adventure began when Clara and some of her peers helped to generate social media coverage to promote the upcoming WFC 2016 in Belleville. It had a positive impact, helping to build awareness of the championship and the sport of women's floorball. Read more.
ALUMNI UPDATES
ALUMNI ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
My name is Richard Beare and I would like to introduce myself as the President of the Alumni Association. As a new initiative, the board of the Alumni Association felt it was important to keep our alumni informed of the activities the Association is participating in on your behalf.

For the second year in a row, we supported the Loyalist College Choir with a donation of $1,000 to help with their yearly operational costs. If any alumni are interested in participating in the choir please contact Pam Fairbank.

An important focus for the Alumni Association is the revitalization of the Alumni Gardens and Memorial Grove. Our first stage is to create an entranceway to the garden. We are currently working with the College Technology and Trade Preparation program to construct a pergola and this will be completed by August 2014. Our goal is to have the gardens ready for the 50th Anniversary celebrations in 2017.

We encourage all alumni to stay connected with Loyalist College and if you are interested in actively participating in the Alumni Association please contact Alumni Services Coordinator, Michelle Randolph.
