College with Confidence

Mariah Brough; Business, 2014

For as long as Mariah Brough can remember her family has stressed the importance of a college education. When she turned 14 her grandmother gave her a university bear, hinting at what she thought was best for her future. "The idea of going to college scared me. I had always struggled in school, and I was worried about the stress of large classes and hours of lectures," says Mariah.

When it came time to apply for school she knew that university was not a good fit for her. When she started looking at colleges within a two-hour distance from home she decided to book a tour at Loyalist. Right away she knew that this was the school for her. "I loved the atmosphere, the small class sizes, and the fact that the tour guide could not walk from one class to another without seeing a familiar face. That fall I began my first class in the Business program."  Read more.
