Mature Student Discovers Destiny

When discovering a career path, we often focus on what we know and enjoy. But in exploring the familiar, we can also miss opportunities that are unique, challenging and rewarding - paths we may have never imagined. Julia Hulme entered the Loyalist Animation program as a mature student, convinced that a career in the futuristic world of cartoons and video games was her destiny. It was not until the final months of her studies that she discovered an exciting career path that would lead her deep into prehistoric times. Read more
Loyalist Presents Cheque to United Way
On February 3, President and CEO Maureen Piercy, students from the Public Relations post-graduate program and members of Loyalist Student Government presented a cheque for $18,659 to Judi Gilbert, Executive Director of the United Way of Quinte. Read more
Varsity Athletes Recognized
On January 22 in Club 213, Loyalist College proudly presented 30 varsity athletes with scholarships in recognition of their athletic and academic achievements. Read more
Accounting Diploma-to-Degree Pathway Announced
A new articulation agreement between Loyalist College and the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) will make it easier for Accounting students to earn both a diploma and degree in four years. Read more
Bursary Established by Select Referral Team
The Select Referral Team (SRT) has established a $500 bursary for a Loyalist College student. SRT member Warren Powell presented the cheque to Loyalist Awards Officer Joanne Farrell and Executive Director, College Advancement & External Relations Dianne Spencer, at the group's meeting on January 20.
New Post-Graduate Program Receives Grant
The College is pleased to work with provincial partners, local business leaders, and investors to deliver a new one-year post-graduate program in Entrepreneurial Studies. The program received support from the Government of Ontario through the Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE), a member of Ontario Network of Entrepreneurs (ONE), with a $196,712 On-Campus Entrepreneurship Activities (OCEA) grant. Key program delivery partners include local entrepreneurs and the Regional Innovation Centre - Launch Lab. Read more
Another Successful Career Fair
The 18th Annual Career Fair was held on February 5 at the College. Approximately 50 regional and national employers attended the event to meet with students and alumni. Read more

Premier's Award Nominations
Do you know a Loyalist College graduate who has made outstanding contributions in his or her field of study and/or community? The College is accepting nominations for the 2015 Premier's Awards which recognize the tremendous contributions Ontario's college graduates make to the province and beyond. There are six categories to consider: Business, Community Services, Creative Arts and Design, Health Sciences, Recent Graduate and Technology. The deadline for submissions is April 10. Please send your nominations to Alumni Services at alumni@loyalistc.on.ca.
