Ste. Anne’s Spa, one of Canada’s largest destination spas, located in Grafton, is only a 40-minute drive from Belleville.
“We’re lucky to have such a well-regarded spa close to Loyalist College,” said Bridget Ferguson, coordinator of the college’s esthetics and spa management diploma program. “We’re delighted to carry Ste. Anne’s Tea on campus, in The Spa. Through our experiential programming, students learn about product development and the retail side of the industry. Our close relationship with Ste. Anne’s enhances the student experience.”
On Wednesday, Nov. 14, during a college-wide wellness break from noon to 1 p.m., Ste. Anne’s will be on campus to launch its new tea line.
“Our students are really looking forward to experiencing Ste. Anne’s Tea, both from a product and marketing perspective,” said Ferguson. “We can’t wait to share it with the college community and The Spa’s clientele.”
Ste. Anne’s Tea will be available for purchase in The Spa on Fridays, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Saturdays, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“Ste. Anne’s has been fortunate to employ graduates from Loyalist’s esthetics and spa management program,” said Troy Elzner, brand manager at Ste. Anne’s Spa. “We’re proud to support the program and the professional growth of Loyalist students. Having our signature line of teas available for purchase at The Spa is a great opportunity for students to hone their retail and visual merchandising skills with a product from a high-end spa.”
During the college’s wellness break, Kanav Sardana, an esthetics and spa management student, will highlight the 16 beautifications of an Indian bride, referred to as the Solah Shringar, while demonstrating make-up techniques. Before coming to Loyalist, he practised make-up artistry in India.
“Make-up is different in every culture,” said Sardana. “At Loyalist, I get to build on my past experiences and share my knowledge with the college community.”
Students in Loyalist’s esthetics and spa management program train in a full range of spa services in a safe learning environment, including manicures, pedicures, facials, hair removal, make-up artistry, aromatherapy and hot stone massage. They receive the highest technical skills in Loyalist’s state-of-the art lab using the latest in skincare technology, including microdermabrasion and facial machinery.
Students work with new medical spa equipment, including the Sonicator 740, an anti-aging skincare system that applies ultrasound technology, and the IPL Angelite, an Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) machine used for photo facials and permanent hair reduction. They also learn the business side of spa management with instruction in visual display, retail sales, marketing, personal finance, business communications and entrepreneurship. The program is currently accepting applications for January 2019 and is looking forward to welcoming future estheticians to the college.
The Spa’s student-designed Buckwheat and Shea Butter Exfoliation Back Treatment is available until December 14. This innovative treatment deeply moisturizes the back with its creamy and non-irritating ingredients, such as shea butter, buckwheat bran, soybean oil and vitamin E. It’s beneficial in preparing dull, tired and sensitive skin for the winter. The treatment costs $33.90 and includes a complimentary mini make-up consultation and colour recommendation.
