1 out of 2 women, trans and non-binary and 1 out of 6 men will experience sexual violence in their lifetime. It’s an epidemic facing so many people, but we know that with education sexual violence is totally preventable. One of the biggest barriers to prevention is the pervasive rape myths that create doubt about what sexual violence includes. In this session we’ll break down some of those myths, learn about the sexual violence continuum, and understand the root causes of sexual violence. We’ll then apply this info to tools that can help us to stop violence before it escalates. If you don’t know what bystander intervention is you can learn about it here, and if you do then you can learn about using this approach specifically when it comes to sexual violence?
