A bowl of soup goes a long way.

That’s what Andree Mathurin-Scott, Aramark Food Service Director at Loyalist College, says about the daily acts of generosity she and her team are delivering to keep morale high for authorized employees working on campus.

Authorized employees, such as Facilities, Security and cleaning staff, are being treated to free meals, such as French onion soup and cookies, by Aramark while Ontario remains in a state of emergency and the majority of College employees continue to work from home.

“Food has a way of bringing people together even when we’re practicing social distancing and eating in isolation,” said Mathurin-Scott. “It’s our way of showing that we care. We’re doing our part to increase positivity and make people smile.”

To make sure the perishable food they have on hand doesn’t go to waste, Aramark staff are on campus making meals to freeze and store – and sharing their culinary creations daily.

“Andree and her team are doing a wonderful job supporting our employees,” said Dr. Ann Marie Vaughan, Loyalist College President & CEO. “Thank you for your contributions and for adding a bit of joy to the day of our employees who remain on campus.”
