College Invites Community to Loyalist Days – March 10 to 14, 2008

College Invites Community to Loyalist Days – March 10 to 14, 2008

Individuals interested in exploring the wide range of post-secondary choices available to them at Loyalist College are encouraged to attend Loyalist Days, March 10 to 14. Each morning includes a welcome session starting at 11:00 a.m. in Alumni Hall and a guided tour of the campus and residence facilities. A lunch break allows visitors to view program displays in the cafeteria and is followed by individual program information sessions in the afternoon.

Program sessions are scheduled throughout the week, providing the opportunity for guests to attend multiple information sessions. The sessions are from 1:00 to 1:30 p.m. and 1:30 to 2:00 p.m., enabling participants to attend two sessions each afternoon.

The program sessions are scheduled as follows:

Monday:  Developmental Services Worker, Early Childhood Education, Social Service Worker, Child and Youth Worker, Architectural Technician/Technology, Civil Engineering Technician/Technology, Construction Engineering Technician, Construction Renovation Techniques, Residential Drafting and Design, and Survey Engineering Technician

Tuesday:  Advertising, Advertising and Promotions for Retail, Animation, Broadcast Journalism, Broadcast Engineering Technology, Media Experience, Photojournalism, Print Journalism, Radio Broadcasting, Television and New Media Production, E-Journalism, Public Relations, and Sports Journalism

Wednesday:  Fitness and Health Promotion, General Arts and Science, Military Arts and Sciences, Nursing (BScN), Personal Support Worker, Practical Nursing, Pre-Health Science, Recreation and Leisure Services, Bio-Food Technician/Technologist, Biotechnology Technician/Technologist, Chemical Laboratory Assistant, Chemical Engineering Technician, and Environmental Technician/Technologist

Thursday: Accounting, Business, Business Administration, Business Sales and Marketing, Travel Sales, Culinary Skills – Chef Training, Culinary Management, and Esthetician

Friday: Automotive Service Technician Apprenticeship, Electrical Engineering Technician, Electrical Techniques, Manufacturing Engineering Technician, Mechanical Techniques, Motive Power Fundamentals – Parts and Counter Personnel, Motive Power Technician – Service and Management, Welding Techniques, Retail Florist (Professional Floral Design), College Prep Program, Community and Justice Services Worker, Corporate and Commercial Security, Customs and Immigration, Paralegal and Police Foundations

“For post-secondary students to be successful it is important that their program choice aligns with their interests, strengths and career goals,” explained Jeff Macnab, College Registrar. “Loyalist Days gives them the opportunity to visit the campus, learn more about the programs they are considering, ask questions, and, by doing so, they will understand more clearly why Loyalist is their best choice.”
