Elementary Students SETUP for Exciting Career Possibilities

March 04, 2010

Today and tomorrow approximately 160 girls from 23 different elementary schools are visiting Loyalist College as participants in the SETUP 2010 program. The focus of the event is women in the fields of science, engineering and technology —  fields where women are often under-represented. The students will participate in sessions in the following areas: Culinary Management, Esthetics and Spa Management, Radio Broadcasting, Television and New Media Production, Broadcast Engineering Technology, Motive Power, Manufacturing Engineering and Electrical Engineering. The sessions are interactive and hands-on allowing the students the opportunity to learn more about each specific field. The participants will enjoy a delicious lunch and snacks throughout the day prepared, in part, by their peers who participate in the Culinary sessions.
