Festival of Native Arts Brings Community Together

November 09, 2011

On Saturday, November 5th, Loyalist College was proud to host the 16th annual Festival of Native Arts, supported by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities Aboriginal Education Strategy through the Loyalist College Aboriginal Resource Centre.

Community members gathered to experience the richness of Aboriginal culture through music, dance, food, and crafts. The day featured the Quinte Mohawk Dancers (Tyendinaga), the Old Mush Singers, part of a national singing society that includes singing societies from Iroquois communities on both sides of the American/Canadian border,  and many other entertainers from throughout the province. Traditional foods of moose stew, corn soup, Indian tacos and corn bread were served and nearly twenty vendors offered a variety of items for purchase.
