Graeme McRae of Bioniche Life Sciences Inc. Challenges Loyalist Graduates To Make a Lasting Mark on the World
On the afternoon of June 12th, Loyalist College honoured 378 graduates from the Schools of Business and Management Studies, Biosciences and the Centre of Justice Studies. Included in the ceremony was the presentation of the Hugh O’Neil Award for Outstanding Alumni to Charles Benson and the Governor General’s Medal to Erica Prins, a graduate from the three-year Business Administration program.
Guest speaker at the event was Graeme McRae, Chairman, President and CEO of Bioniche Life Sciences Inc. Mr. McRae was born in Australia and is the founder of Vetrepharm Animal Health and Bioniche Inc. He has had a diverse career within the pharmaceutical industry in Australia and Canada. Bioniche Inc. was founded in 1992 to develop Vetrepharm’s technologies for human health applications.
In his address, Mr. McRae reminded the graduates not to be satisfied with living a mediocre life. “You are leaving Loyalist College today a more rounded individual, with enhanced knowledge and skills. Apply them wisely, while remaining honest; true to yourself and your ethical standards; living a life of passion and compassion, innovation, and creativity; building solid, sustaining relationships with others; and, committing to something more important than yourself. If you can achieve these things, you will make a lasting mark on the world.”
Graeme McRae was presented with an honorary diploma by Bob Cottrell, Chair of the Loyalist College Board of Governors, in recognition of Mr. McRae’s outstanding contributions to research-based technologies and his distinguished career in the fields of Human Health, Animal Health, and Food Safety.
