Loyalist and Partners Present Renowned Speaker David Foot

Well-known author and presenter David Foot will speak at the Empire Theatre on November 20th at 7:00 p.m. on the topic, “The Role of Demographics in Community Development.” The event is sponsored by Loyalist College and a number of partners in education and business. Loyalist’s 55+ Program Director Ted Reid reports that the evening has been made possible by the generosity of a number of sponsors, including: Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board, CIBC Wood Gundy – Knudsen Brady Team, Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board, The Loyalist College Foundation, Royal LePage ProAlliance Realty, The Intelligencer, and Trenval Business Development Corporation. “It promises to be an excellent evening,” he said.

Dr. Foot is a Professor of Economics at the University of Toronto, and is co-author of the bestselling books Boom, Bust & Echo: How to Profit from the Coming Demographic Shift and Boom, Bust & Echo: Profiting from the Demographic Shift in the 21st Century. These books reflect his current research interests in the numerous relationships between economics and demographics and in the resulting implications for both private and public policies, especially in the Canadian context.

Dr. Foot is a two-time recipient of the University of Toronto undergraduate teaching award, and in 1992 he received one of the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education’s 3M Awards for Teaching Excellence, which recognizes outstanding Canadian university educators.

“David Foot is a renowned Canadian thinker and speaker who will bring an important message for our audience about trends and issues for our communities to consider in planning for the future,” said Loyalist President Maureen Piercy. “We are delighted that he is able to visit Belleville on November 20th and look forward to his comments.
