LOYALIST COLLEGE BANCROFT CAMPUS 18TH GRADUATION CEREMONY CELEBRATES SUCCESS OF 60 STUDENTS

October 13, 2017

Bancroft, Ontario, October 13, 2017 – Loyalist College proudly presented 65 diplomas and certificates to 60 graduates at the 18th Annual Bancroft Campus Convocation Graduation Ceremony on October 12.

“We all have professional and personal dreams, but where do we find the confidence to pursue them?” asked Chair of the Loyalist College Board of Governors Bob Forder, who led the opening of Graduation. “I believe your confidence begins today with your well deserved diploma or certificate in hand. I believe the supporters who surround you, whether it be faculty members, staff, family and friends, will continue to encourage you. I believe in you – your passion, your commitment to hard work and your belief that you will succeed.”

During the Ceremony, graduates received post-secondary credentials in the following programs:

  • Ontario College Diplomas in Developmental Services Worker, Office Administration, Office Administration – Medical and Office Administration – Medical Transcription.
  • Ontario College Certificates in Food Service Worker, Office Administration and Personal Support Worker.
  • Loyalist College Board of Governors Certificates in Facilitator of Adult Learning, Health Records Clerk, Hospital Ward Clerk, Human Resources Management and Palliative Care.

The Vance Motors Business Award was presented to Office Administration graduate Denise Whyte. The Kawartha Credit Union Bursaries were presented to Personal Support Worker graduates Sydney McCaugherty and JungSun Shin.

“I know your decision to continue your learning experience was likely motivated by personal reasons – to enhance your life, and that of your family,” said Loyalist College President and CEO Ann Marie Vaughan, who delivered the President’s Address, awarded the certificates and diplomas, and presented the awards.  “However, it is important to remember that your new skills and credentials will also enrich the organizations for which you work, your patients and clients, and your communities. You are adding to the quality of life for all of us!”

Valedictorian Ashley Beattie, a Personal Support Worker graduate and Pre-Health Sciences student, recognized her peers and thanked her professors and family. “Above all else, I think it’s important to note how thankful I am for the off-site location,” said Ms. Beattie. “Living rurally and being a single mother prior to applying, this specific schedule and location was beneficial to my circumstances and allowed me more flexibility to modify my life and schedule and to feel confident that I could manage the time, workload and travel, and balance it with my family and home life. I was able to work part-time, be there for my children, and be successful in my studies.”
