LOYALIST COLLEGE BANCROFT CAMPUS 19TH GRADUATION CEREMONY CELEBRATES STUDENT SUCCESS

Belleville, Ontario, October 5, 2018 – Loyalist College proudly presented 51 diplomas and certificates to 49 graduates at the 19th Annual Bancroft Campus Graduation Ceremony on October 4.

“The achievements that we are celebrating this evening are a direct reflection of your commitment to learning and to your future,” said Loyalist College Governor Mr. Scott Williams during his opening address. “These training opportunities lay the foundation to apply learned skills while working with peers, demonstrating hands-on interaction with co-workers, clients, and residents, while being supported by staff to enhance your knowledge base.”

During the Ceremony, graduates received post-secondary credentials in the following programs:

  • Ontario College Diplomas in Early Childhood Education, Developmental Services Worker, Office Administration and Office Administration – Medical.
  • Ontario College Certificates in Personal Support Worker.
  • Loyalist College Board of Governors Certificates in Food Service Worker, Health Records Clerk, Hospital Ward Clerk, Office Administration – Veterinary, Office Assistant, and Small Business Bookkeeping.

“Research tells us that the future holds many new and exciting career opportunities – many in fields we can’t even imagine today,” said Ann Marie Vaughan, Loyalist College President & CEO. “We also know that the vast majority of tomorrow’s jobs will require a post-secondary credential. Graduates, you knew that. That is why you made the commitment and invested yourself in your studies.”

Amanda Graham, Personal Support Worker, Marmora

Kawartha Credit Union Bursary
Jennifer Armstrong, Personal Support Worker, Marmora

Valedictorian Donna Kelly, Personal Support Worker graduate, addressed her peers, “Through our three placements, we met many caring and experienced PSWs, who were kind enough to pass on their wisdom and best practices. Now we are all out working in the field.  We are the new graduates, and it’s our responsibility to pass on the knowledge that we have learned and to make a difference in our clients’ lives.”

Loyalist continues to branch out its Personal Support Worker program in rural communities, with the latest site location being in Lakefield, Ontario. 

Loyalist College Bancroft Campus is a vibrant and busy satellite campus which prepares students for a rewarding career by combining rigorous academic standards with hands-on training from industry experts. Since 1967, the Bancroft Campus has been a leader in developing and implementing diploma and certificate programs to Bancroft and the surrounding areas. It has extended its services in Ontario through outreach programs in locations such as: Amherstview, Barry’s Bay, Campbellford, Christian Island, Curve Lake, Lakefield, Marmora, Napanee, Northbrook, Picton, Rama, Sharbot Lake and Tweed. Loyalist is committed to helping students find great jobs, as well as supporting and enhancing the economic and social development of all individuals in its communities. The Campus is also the home of Loyalist’s Employment Ontario programs, offered through the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development for Bancroft and North Hastings communities, and beyond.
