Loyalist College Bancroft Campus Donates Supplies to QHC North Hastings Hospital

April 09, 2020

Loyalist College’s community continues to find ways to support local health care workers at the forefront of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Faculty and staff at Loyalist’s Bancroft campus donated masks, shoe covers, gloves, gowns, caps, protective glasses, and sanitizer, as well as 174 N95 respirators, to Quinte Health Care (QHC) North Hastings Hospital on Friday, March 27. Currently, N95 respirators are among the most in-demand pieces of protective equipment in the fight against COVID-19. Donations were sourced from the College’s Personal Support Worker program, which begins classes via alternate delivery on May 19.

“Hospital staff were really excited to receive our supplies,” said Lisa Walker, Office Coordinator at the College’s Bancroft campus. “We’re a close-knit community. Everyone knows everyone. We depend and rely on health care professionals, and when we found more items we could donate, we knew exactly what to do with them.”

The College’s Bancroft campus contributed to Loyalist’s initial donation of 58,282 supplies to QHC on March 23 by providing PPE from their Paramedic program.

“As community members and as College staff, we are sincerely thankful for our health care providers,” said Warren Gee, Director, Bancroft Campus and Employment Ontario Programs at Loyalist. “We recognize that this donation is a small contribution compared to the efforts they are making on behalf of our community each and every day.”
