Belleville, Ontario, June 21, 2018 – Two recent graduates of Loyalist College’s three-year Film and TV Production Ontario College Advanced Diploma program have received a Broadcast Educators Association of Canada (BEAC) National Student Award. Sophie Kuhn and Jacob Wilkinson, who graduated from Loyalist in June 2018, were awarded Best Corporate/Client Based video for “The Spa @ Loyalist.”

More than 120 entries from colleges and universities across the country were entered into the 12 video and eight audio award categories.

Film and TV Production graduates Cameron Roth, Taylor Pereira and Simon Sheehan were runners-up in the Remote/Special category for “OJHL Hockey: Oakville vs. Wellington, Dec. 10, 2017.” Thomas Annable and Jon Lapointe, recent graduates of the College’s Radio Broadcasting Ontario College Diploma program, were also acknowledged. Thomas was a runner-up in the Commercial/PSA category for “Ovarian Cancer,” and Jon was a runner-up in the Station Imaging category for “Clash Day.”

“It’s always an honour to see Loyalist graduates recognized by BEAC,” said Kathleen Bazkur, Dean of the School of Media, Business and Access. “Our Media Studies professors are experts in their fields. Be it reporting, writing, directing or producing, they have invaluable industry experience which they impart to their students. Being acknowledged at the national level is a tribute to the perseverance, proficiency and passion of both our outstanding students and faculty.”

BEAC is dedicated to the professional development of faculty and administrators in Radio, Television, Broadcast Journalism and New Media programs in provincially accredited colleges and universities in Canada.
