Loyalist College Hosts Annual Breakfast for United Way

October 12, 2007

Thursday, October 18, 2007 – Loyalist College will host its annual fundraising United Way Pancake Breakfast on Thursday, October 18th from 7:30 to 10:00 a.m. in the cafeteria in the Kente Building. The breakfast is a launch of the College’s annual United Way Campaign that raises funds in support of various programs and services within our community.  Members of the community are invited to attend the Pancake Breakfast that is available for only $5.00 per person, with a special student rate of $2.00.

Board Chair Bob Cottrell has also announced that the Board of Governors will be contributing to the United Way effort through the 2007 Healthy Communities Challenge. A team of ten will participate in several exercise activities at the Quinte Mall on November 2, along with other community teams. Pledges of support will be directed to the College’s United Way campaign.

The College’s Public Relations students will be coordinating a series of fundraising activities on campus throughout the campaign, beginning with a “Way or No Way” fundraiser. The game, a take-off on the popular “Deal or No Deal” TV game show, will take place at 7:30 a.m. on October 18th in the College cafeteria, and will continue throughout the day.  For just a toonie, students, faculty and staff will have the chance to win great prizes while supporting the United Way.

“We were very pleased with the success of the College’s United Way campaign last year, and particularly with the work of the committee, involving students, faculty and staff in special events and activities,” said Loyalist President Maureen Piercy. “The Public Relations students have new and exciting plans for this year’s campaign and we look forward to participating in support of such a worthwhile cause.  Many of our students are familiar with United Way agencies, and many graduates work in the agencies and related community services.”
