Loyalist College Key Performance Indicator Results Strong

April 13, 2011

Key Performance Indicator (KPI) results made public today show that Loyalist College continues to achieve excellent results in preparing individuals for the workforce.

Those results indicate that 83.3 percent of Loyalist College 2009-10 graduates in the labour force found work within six months of graduating. Provincially, 83 percent of graduates of all Ontario colleges found work in that period of time. As well, 94.3 percent of employers said they were satisfied with the quality of the educational preparation of Loyalist graduates, compared to the provincial result of 93.2 percent.

Student Satisfaction for Loyalist was 80 percent, compared to a provincial average of 76.1 percent.  The Graduate Satisfaction KPI for Loyalist was 77.5 percent, compared to the provincial result of 79.1 percent.  When asked about their experience, 96 percent of Loyalist graduates said they would recommend the College to someone else.  The provincial result was 95 percent.  Eighty-nine (89) percent of Loyalist graduates said they would recommend their College program to someone else, compared to a provincial response of 87 percent.

College President Maureen Piercy noted that, “The strong education and training provided at Ontario’s 24 public colleges continues to prepare people for success,“ she said. “Colleges continue to provide students with the higher education they need to fulfill their career ambitions.”

“We are pleased that Loyalist results continue to be strong as compared to results across the province,” she commented.  “This is a very positive reflection on the education and training provided by our faculty and staff, and the strength of our programs and graduates.”

Since 1998, the provincial KPI data have been gathered annually by two independent research firms for the colleges and for the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. The most recent data were collected from March 2010 to February 2011.

“It is particularly important in this new economy for students pursuing post-secondary education to explore the range of programs available at Ontario’s colleges,” President Piercy said. “College graduates enter the workforce with an excellent combination of academic education and skills training.  They have the problem-solving abilities and the up-to-date skills to succeed in their careers.”
