Loyalist College Launches United Way Campaign

October 28, 2008

The Loyalist College community has launched its 2008-2009 United Way Campaign with a number of activities on-campus.  The goal is to make this campaign the College’s most successful to date.

Today, students in the College’s Public Relations program organized Trick or Treat as the opening event, a fun activity encouraging people to donate to the campaign with the incentive of a chance to win great prizes. The students in the Police Foundations program are raising funds by running 13 kilometres for the cause.

On Wednesday, College President Maureen Piercy has invited all staff to join her for a pizza and pop luncheon, the proceeds of which will go toward the campaign. “Our communities need us more than ever and any support that can be offered is a valuable investment in helping to strengthen and improve the quality of living for those in our area. Students and staff at the College contribute to the community in many ways and I hope that this generosity will extend to include this campaign, enabling us to exceed last year’s total raised of $11,000.”

The College’s annual Pancake Breakfast for the United Way will be held on Thursday, October 30 from 7:30 until 10:00 in the cafeteria in the Kente Building. Members of the community are invited to attend and enjoy breakfast for only $5.00.
