Loyalist College Supports 2011 United Way of Quinte Campaign

November 24, 2011

A cheque for $29,805 was presented to the United Way of Quinte from the Loyalist College community on November 24th.  Special events held on campus, as well as donations from individuals and groups, contributed to the success of this year’s campaign at Loyalist, which established a new record of support.

The campus campaign was launched in October with a pancake breakfast supported by the Rotary Club of Quinte Sunrise, Bib’s Meats, Aramark, Club 213, Findlay Foods, and Reid’s Dairy.  Other events included a “truckload” sale organized by post-graduate Public Relations students, and a very successful “Police Run” by Police Foundations students. Donations from students and employees brought the total campaign to $29,805.

“We are pleased to celebrate the generosity of students, faculty, staff, and supporting donors to the United Way of Quinte,” said Loyalist President Maureen Piercy.  “I would especially like to recognize the outstanding efforts of students in the post-graduate Public Relations program, the Police Foundations program, and those of the Loyalist Student Government.  Loyalist is proud to join with our community in supporting the United Way with our campus campaign.”

President Maureen Piercy presented United Way of Quinte Executive Director Judi Gilbert and United Way Campaign Chairman Dave Allen with a cheque in the amount of $29,805.
