Loyalist College Supports United Way Campaign

January 15, 2008

Loyalist College representatives have presented the local United Way campaign with a cheque for $11,685. This total results from a number of initiatives, including events organized by students in the Public Relations Post-Graduate program and a run organized by the Police Foundations program. Members of the Board of Governors participated in the “Healthier Communities” event at GoodLife Fitness, with the coaching support of students in the Fitness and Health Promotion program.

Donations were received from College employees, and from the Student Government on behalf of the student body.

“We are very pleased to present this cheque to the United Way campaign,” said College President Maureen Piercy. “Our community is very important to us, and the breadth of involvement by programs across the College is an indication of the support of our community organizations. “

Bob Cottrell, Chair of the College Board of Governors, commented that, “It was wonderful to see the involvement of many in the College community. I particularly want to congratulate the students and staff who were involved with new initiatives and events as part of the United Way campaign at Loyalist this year.”
