Loyalist College to Host 14th Annual Junior Iron Chef Competition, March 7

March 05, 2015

Loyalist College is pleased to invite members of the community to the 14th annual Junior Iron Chef Competition on Saturday, March 7. Spectators will watch a live feed of the student competitors in the Dining Hall of the Kente Building. Organized by second-year Loyalist Culinary Management students, the competition enables two teams of aspiring high school chefs to showcase their culinary skills.

Competing in this year’s championship are Prince Edward Collegiate Institute (PECI) in Picton, and La Salle Secondary School in Kingston. The judging panel will include Loyalist Culinary graduate guest, Chef Andrew Frederick from Occasions by the Bay, and two second-year Loyalist Culinary students. The teams will compete for prize packages, including Loyalist tuition rebate certificates of $500 for each member of the first place team and $300 for each member of the second place team. In addition, prizes have been donated by event sponsors Bib’s Meats, Ontario Pork Producers, and Trent Valley Distributors. Loyalist Culinary graduate Mike Reid has provided a generous monetary donation toward the event.
