Tuesday, October 23, 2007 – Members of the community are invited to attend Open House at Loyalist College on Tuesday, October 23rd. The day has a full agenda with forums and activities designed to showcase Loyalist’s campus and the wide range of career-oriented programs available, many of which are offered on a part-time basis. Faculty and students will be available for questions at the program displays in the cafeteria from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the campus, including the residence village, and take part in the interactive exhibits.
Laura Naumann, Coordinator of Recruitment and Special Events, highlights a few of the activities that guests will find at this year’s Open House. “Our Culinary Management and Chef Training students will be presenting a cooking demonstration, complete with samples. Our Esthetician students will be hosting an interactive display, demonstrations will be conducted in the Nursing simulation lab and 91X, the College radio station, will be broadcasting live in the cafeteria. There will be many contest giveaways and the opportunity to win $2,000 to put towards first-year tuition.”
“The fall Open House is one of the best opportunities for secondary school students, teachers and the community to explore the College,” said Maureen Piercy, Loyalist President. “It allows people to research the programs they are interested in, speak directly with our faculty and students, and to check out our campus. We are strongly committed to helping potential students find the program that’s right for them and ensuring that they achieve their goals.”
“In addition to 1,800 high school students from across Eastern Ontario, we’re also looking forward to having members of the community visit our campus. We encourage people to go to our website and research the College, prior to their visit,” said Nancy Rabb, Loyalist Registrar. “We have a full range of success services to assist each student in achieving a well-rounded and successful college experience.”
The provincial College Information Program (C.I.P.) will be hosted by Loyalist on the same day. Twenty-three community colleges from across Ontario will have information available for visitors. The C.I.P. displays will be in the gymnasium from 9:00 until Noon.
