Loyalist College Welcomes Community to Visit The Parrott Centre as part of Doors Open Ontario — September 13 and 14, 2008
Loyalist College is pleased to join Doors Open Ontario and welcome members of the community to visit The Parrott Centre as part of the two-day event. The Centre was designed by Teeple Architects Inc. and opened in 2004. The architectural uniqueness of the Centre’s soaring roof plane, floor to peak glazing and origami-like geometries are a welcoming focal point for the College.
Visitors will also enjoy the pleasure of viewing a number of works from the Manly MacDonald art collection which enhance the interior of The Parrott Centre. The collection was donated to the College by the artist’s son Duncan and Duncan’s wife Barbara in 2004. The Doors Open Ontario event will be held on Saturday, September 13 from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. and on Sunday, September 14 from noon until 4:00 p.m.
“We are looking forward to having people from our community visit us and to introducing them to our Centre of which we are so very proud,” said Ross Danaher, Director of Library Services. “The Parrott Centre is accessible to everyone, not only Loyalist students and staff. In addition to our extensive collection of over 35,000 fiction and non-fiction works, we have computer access to 12,000 electronic journals which encompass everything from academic specialties to general interest publications. These services are available seven days a week during the academic school year, with reduced summer hours of operation. We encourage everyone to come and browse through our selection and discover for themselves why The Parrott Centre is considered a leading resource centre in our area.”
