Loyalist Graduate Shawn Patriquin Applauds Client

February 28, 2011

Shawn Patriquin, a graduate of the Loyalist College Advertising program (1993), and founder and president of Belleville’s They Integrated Inc., has good reason to be proud of the website created by his team for the National Geographic film Restrepo. The film, created by Sebastian Junger and Tim Hetherington, was the 2010 Sundance Film Festival best documentary Grand Jury Prize winner, and has recently been nominated for an Academy Award. They Integrated designed the website to support the filmmakers in generating awareness of the documentary.

Shawn credits Loyalist with helping to prepare him to succeed in the ever-evolving field of marketing and communications. “Through the Loyalist College Advertising program I acquired the well-rounded skill set that is necessary to compete in today’s fast-paced, multi-tasking marketing environment. The program’s emphasis on strategic development as part of the marketing and advertising process gave me a competitive advantage in building my business. This is a key strength I continue to see in recent graduates who have joined our team as employees and interns.”

That talented team includes Ryan Blaind, lead designer on the Restrepo website project. Ryan also studied Advertising at Loyalist College (2002) and one of his teachers was Shawn Patriquin who taught in the program from 1997 through to 2002.

Following the Restrepo website project, They Integrated launched a website for American author Kris Carr’s book, Crazy, Sexy Diet, now number six on the New York Times Best Seller list. They have created sites for The Last Mountain, a documentary film starring Robert Kennedy Jr., Blackstone, an Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (APTN) series, and are currently developing Pole to Pole Run, highlighting Pat Farmer’s plans to run from the North Pole to the South Pole to raise money for clean water in impoverished countries.

“It’s wonderful to watch the growth and success of Shawn and his team,” said Maureen Piercy, President of Loyalist College. “We are proud of our graduates and their accomplishments and commend Shawn on his initiative in developing and contributing to these creative business partnerships.”
