Loyalist Lancer Sara Maybee Named CCAA All Canadian

March 11, 2009

Loyalist Lancer, Sara Maybee, was named a Canadian College Athletic Association (CCAA) All Canadian, placing second in league scoring with an average of 19.29 points per game. She now sits in third place for all-time scoring in the Ontario College Athletic Association (OCAA) women’s basketball with a total of 949 points. The Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) announced the 2008-09 Women’s Basketball award winners at the OCAA Championship banquet in Brampton.

“This is the second season that Sara has played for the Lancers and what a season she has had,” said Jim Buck, Assistant Athletic Director at Loyalist College. “When her teammate Erin Rose was injured, the coaches counted on Sara to double her responsibilities as both shooting guard and point guard, which she did. She now holds the Loyalist record for a game high of 44 points and is an OCAA League All Star. Her 45 three-pointers in a season have set a new OCAA record versus the previous 43. Sara is a team player both on and off the court and we’re very proud that she has been honoured by the CCAA as an All Canadian.”

Sara has also been named as a CCAA Academic All Canadian for her athletic season and her Dean’s list academic standing of 80 percent or higher in the Social Service Worker program at Loyalist College.
