Photojournalism Students Recognized at the National Newspaper Awards

May 15, 2013

Loyalist College Photojournalism grads took home awards in two of the four categories presented at the National Newspaper Awards in Ottawa on May 3, 2013.

Tyler Anderson (Photojournalism, 2005) of the National Post took first place in the News Feature category with a photo of a worker sleeping back stage during a speech by Toronto mayor Rob Ford.

Tyler was also a runner-up in the Feature Photo category, but was beat-out by fellow Loyalist grad Peter Power (Photojournalism, 1989) of the Globe and Mail, who won first place with a heart-wrenching photo of a palliative care scene. Runner up was grad Aaron Vincent-Elkaim (Photojournalism, 2008) with a photo taken during the funeral of a shooting victim in Toronto.
