Smiths Falls Student Wins Loyalist College Open House Tuition Award

November 15, 2007

The winner of this year’s $2,000 Loyalist College Tuition Award is Sabrina Bonneau, a student at Smiths Falls District Collegiate in Smiths Falls, Ontario. Sabrina entered her ballot in a draw while attending the Loyalist Open House in October.  The award will be applied to her September 2008 Loyalist tuition costs.

“I’ve been talking about Loyalist since they came and visited my high school, but the open house was the first time that I had been to the campus,” said Sabrina Bonneau. “I’m interested in the College’s Biotechnology program and it was great to be able to talk to one of the professors. She answered a lot of questions for me. Receiving this tuition award is a dream come true.  We have been trying to find ways for me to be able to pay for my college education and this will help out so much.  It couldn’t have come at a better time.  I can’t wait for this fall. Loyalist has everything I want and more.”

Over 1,800 high school students attended this year’s open house to meet with current students and faculty to learn more about the programs offered at Loyalist. They were able to see samples of student projects, try some of the technology that Loyalist students are learning to use and get answers to their questions about potential career opportunities.

Applications are currently being accepted for January and September 2008 Start programs.  For more information about Loyalist College, including the scholarships and bursaries that are available, click here.
