V.P. Enrolment Management and Student Services Appointed

Loyalist President Maureen Piercy has announced the appointment of Ms. Ann Tierney as Vice-President, Enrolment Management and Student Services, effective February 15, 2011. She holds an Honours degree from Carleton University and a Bachelor of Laws degree from Queen’s, where she also completed a Master of Public Administration degree in 2004.

Ms. Tierney will move to her position at Loyalist College from the University of Calgary, where she has served as Vice-Provost (Students) since 2007. She has also served as an Adjunct Faculty member in the Faculty of Law at the University. Her previous post-secondary experience includes a term as Associate Vice-President, Student and Academic Support Services at Carleton; Dean of Student Affairs at Carleton; Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Law, Queen’s University, and Director of the Career Services Office, Faculty of Law at Queen’s.

“I am excited by the opportunity to join the Loyalist Executive Team, and I look forward to working with the students, faculty and staff at Loyalist to continue to promote student success and student engagement,” she said.

President Maureen Piercy commented that Ms. Tierney’s breadth of experience in student services will bring important strengths to Loyalist. “Student success is a key focus for the College, and we look forward to Ann Tierney’s leadership in developing the many student success initiatives which are in place,” she said. “Ann’s experience in designing and implementing national and international recruitment plans, developing new program promotion strategies, scholarship and financial aid strategies, and in promoting student retention, student success and engagement, are key qualities which will add to the strength of the Loyalist Team. We look forward to welcoming her to the College in the New Year.”
