Walkable Communities Forum

October 15, 2010

On Wednesday October 13 the Hastings and Prince Edward Counties Health Unit and Loyalist College hosted a community forum with a keynote presentation by Gil Penalosa, Executive Director of 8 – 80 Cities. 8 – 80 Cities is a Canadian based non-profit organization with an international outlook. Their goal is to contribute to the creation of vibrant cities and healthy communities through the promotion of walking and bicycling and the development of urban parks, trails and other public spaces.  The presentation provided an overview of initiatives and successes in other urban centres and addressed applications to Hastings and Prince Edward Counties.

Loyalist is proud to have participated in the event as part of the College’s commitment to sustainability both on campus and within our communities.
