8 pm: Wellness@Loyalist: Introduction to Wellness

  • Join us for an introduction to the virtual wellness services available during the Fall semester and learn some tips and strategies to be well at home! Includes a 20-minute presentation followed by a Q&A.

9 pm: Wellness@Loyalist: Guided Meditation

  • Join us for a 30-minute guided, deep breathing, imagery and progressive muscle relaxation session.

1 pm: Student Government Activity: We Need Your Voice

  • Get involved and make an impact at Loyalist College. Apply for one of two vacant positions on Student Government: First Year Leader and Justice Studies Leader. Past and current Student Government members will talk about their experiences, what inspired them to get involved and answer any questions you may have about applying.

8 pm: Gaming Club: Town of Salem

  • Town of Salem is a game where groups of up to 15 people play a game of who's who as you get various roles to either help or hinder the town. There will be a team of Mafia members that try to eliminate the townspeople and roles given to townspeople that will try and slow down the Mafia.

9:30 am: Mandatory Academic Orientation

  • Please note that the time period between 9:30 am - 12 pm is reserved for mandatory Academic Orientation, in which your program faculty will walk you through everything you need to know for a successful semester, from course requirements to key dates for the academic year. Your respective program teams will contact you with details on the delivery of your Academic Orientation. No registration is necessary.

1 pm: Blackboard 101

  • Get comfortable with Blackboard, the learning management system with which you will source and submit course assignments, access course info and documentation, and recieve grades and other course content.

2 pm: On-Campus COVID-19 Precautions & Protocols

  • Attend this session to learn more about the ways Loyalist College has adjusted its operations and implemented a series of health and safety measures to better ensure the well-being of the Loyalist community. The session will emphasize things that students can do to stay healthy, and will highlight the various supports available at the College.

3 pm: Draw The Line Workshop

  • 'Draw The Line' is an interactive campaign that aims to engage Ontarians in a dialogue about sexual violence. The campaign challenges common myths about sexual violence and equips bystanders with information on how to intervene safely and effectively. Come and learn how you can help end sexual violence on campus.

5 pm: At-Home Workout Session

  • Get active with us!

9 pm: PlayFair Virtual Activities

  • PlayFair is a perfect way to make new friendships! It's a team building experience that has a long-lasting effect on our Loyalist community.

11 am: Virtual Pilates

  • Join us for a virtual pilates class in the comfort of your own home!

12 am: Xerox Print Services: Info Session

  • Learn about Loyalist's XEROX print services.

1 pm: The Applied Research Centre for Natural Products and Medical Cannabis (ARC): Info Session

  • The Applied Research Centre for Natural Products and Medical Cannabis (ARC) is an industry driven innovation hub at Loyalist College that focuses on developing clean technologies, innovative green extraction methods and advanced analytical methods. Loyalist was the first College in Canada to receive a Cannabis Research License from Health Canada, establishing the ARC in 2017. Today, the ARC also holds a Cannabinoid Analytical Testing license. The ARC provides learning opportunities for Loyalist College students in the Biotechnology and Cannabis Applied Science programs to help prepare them for work in the natural products and cannabis industries.

3 pm: Indigenous Services: Info Session

  • Join Indigenous Services staff to learn about the supports and services they offer to students.

5 pm: Study Tips & Assistance Webinar

  • Meet your Student Success Mentors and get their best advice on preparing for an academically successful year!

5 pm: My SSP App

  • Access mental health support where and when you need it most! Learn about My SSP, a mental wellness student support program brought to you by Student Government and keep.meSAFE in partnership with Morneau Shepell.

8 pm: Gaming Club: Skribbl

  • Skribbl is simply Pictionary, but played online! It can create loads of fun and laughs, depending on your art skills.

10 am: Grocery Shopping on a Budget

  • Going grocery shopping isn't always as simple, whether you’re on your own for the first time, or you’ve been shopping for a family of eight for 20 years. Join us to make the process a little bit easier and hopefully save some money at the same time!

11 am: Wellness@Loyalist: Managing Time & Energy

  • A 40-minute session on how you can navigate College life with limited time and energy. We'll teach you how to make the best use of your most important, but limited resources.

12 pm: Counselling Services: Info Session

  • Learn about the free, confidential counselling services available to you at Loyalist. Meet the Counselling team and get your questions answered!

1 pm: Standing Together Against Racism Web Forum

  • We invite all members of the Loyalist community to join us for a Standing Together Against Racism Web Forum on Thursday, September 10 at 1 pm during Loyalist’s Orientation week. This event creates an opportunity for us to come together to listen, reflect and share. By learning from each other’s perspectives, we can each do our part in cultivating our own mindfulness and awareness while working together to actively remove systemic barriers and direct change on our campus, in our community and beyond.

4 pm: Student Government Activity: Rotaract Club Information

  • Rotaract is Rotary’s global network of young adults, ages 18 to 30. Join a movement of exceptional individuals who are using their skills, talents, and energy to help others.

5 pm: Campus Bookstore: Info Session

  • Learn all about your campus Bookstore! Find out what's available at the store, and discover your options for purchasing.

6 pm: At-Home Workout Session

  • Get active with us!

7 pm: Speed Mingling Mixer

  • Time to let go of the seriousness of life and have some fun! Meet your fellow Lancers and join us for a rotating introduction of new individuals that will be attending Loyalist this year.

10 am: Sustainability: Info Session

  • Uniquely situated on over 200 acres of land, surrounded by mature trees, Loyalist College is the perfect place to explore for those interested in sustainability. Do you have an interest in locally sourced products? Did you know that Loyalist is home to a bee apiary? The honey harvested from the onsite apiary is made available for sale through the Loyalist Market, which is operated by Loyalist Culinary students. Be sure to tune-in to learn more about the sustainability initiatives Loyalist has implemented.

12 pm: LGBTQ2S Meet & Greet

  • Loyalist is a welcoming place for all! Join this casual meet and greet and Q&A for LGBTQ2S students and allies, facilitated by Student Success. Learn about the Pride group for students and the Positive Space Program at Loyalist.

1 pm: Study Tips & Assistance Webinar

  • Meet your Student Success Mentors and get their best advice on preparing for an academically successful year!

2 pm: Career Services: Info Session

  • Will you be looking for work to help fund your education this year? Find out how Career Services can help you source local opportunities, improve your résumé and prepare for interviews. If work isn’t for you, we will tell you all about the awards and bursaries offered through Loyalist College. Who doesn’t like free money to help pay for College!

3 pm: Security & Parking Services: Info Session

  • Do you plan to drive a vehicle to campus? This presentation will provide a security overview, review the process for purchasing a parking pass, and discuss the types of parking permits available. Our Security team enjoys tracking their step counts as they actively patrol our campus and parking lots to keep everyone safe. If you are interested in learning more about our Security team and their other responsibilities, be sure to participate in this presentation.

4 pm: Sports Trivia

  • Are you a sports fan? Ready to test your knowledge? From the NBA to the Olympics, MLS to Wimbledon, it’s all fair game in this contest!

5 pm: Student Experience Panel

  • Join us for a panel discussion with current returning students and alumni. This panel will discuss stories and how to navigate your post-secondary experience.

7 pm: Virtual Yoga Under the Stars

  • Come experience the magic of yoga under the stars. This 45-minute session, geared to all levels, will have you moving late at night. Feel free to virtually join indoors or outdoors.

9 pm: Student Government Activity: Do It For The Vine

  • Share your favourite Vine/TikTok meme-ories with each other!
